National Virtual Conference 2021: ‘Unlock the Future – driving your charity forward in uncertain times’

Since March 2020 we’ve all been focusing on how to survive the pandemic, but now, as we come out of lockdown into the new normal we need to think about the future and how we can ensure our organisations thrive. In the morning of the conference we will begin by looking at the external trends and then go into a workshop session, led by Edwina Pike, looking at how we can develop a strategic plan for our organisations.
ella Forums has some amazing members who represent a wide range of organisations and we have invited two members to share some real experiences and successes.
For our organisations to thrive we need to be able to harness the strengths of everyone in our teams, so how do we have a collaborative organisation that is working well? Rich Watkins’ session in the afternoon will give us practical solutions.
Who should attend?
This conference is for current ella members of all the forums. It is also for guests and for people in the charity or not-for-profit sector who might be interested in becoming an ella member. We will once again hold our annual ella Conference virtually via Zoom and it is free of charge to all attendees. This will give you the opportunity to join, experience and learn from a range of excellent specialist speakers and give you an insight into ella’s leadership development philosophy.

Setting the stage for our post pandemic futures, speaker Nanci Hogan
This keynote talk will explore five external trends that have either been introduced or accelerated by the Pandemic. How would we like them to grow and change now? This 20-minute keynote will be followed by an opportunity to discuss the topic amongst ourselves. These discussions will set the stage for the day as we begin to think of how to plan strategically for the future.
How to help your charity be more strategic, speaker Edwina Pike
In this session we will cover:
Strategy vs Tactical: A chance to assess where you are now, and where you would like to be; to understand your role in setting strategy and how to bring your Board with you.
Structuring a strategy workshop: A winning approach to a strategy session to build alignment and future orientation. This will include the tools and models for each exercise, a brief introduction and the chance to try them for yourself.
Making it happen: Converting strategy into action.
Conversations with ella members, chaired by Julie Pelych, Southern Forum. Two ella members will share their stories regarding facing change and doing things differently.
Collaboration that works, speaker by Rich Watkins
A crucial skill for charity leaders is working in collaboration – whether internally or with outside partners. But how can we build collaboration that delivers on its promise? And how can we spot where things might go wrong? In this session we will orientate around the specifics of particular collaborative projects or teams that matter to you: how you can see what most needs your attention; what steps you can take to shift things in a positive direction.
