Trustees aim to add value to their organisation and have a positive impact on society, whilst at the same time getting personal and professional growth and challenge.  The role can be rewarding as well as challenging, as Trustees get to grips with the complexities of the charity sector and learn to manage the boundaries between the Trustee boards and the senior management team.

There is a lot of guidance for Trustees on their general legal and financial responsibilities (The Charity Commission and NCVO are good places to start).  But the role is much more than this and can feel lonely without peer support.

By joining the Trustees Forum you will have the benefit of the wisdom of up to twelve charity Trustees who wish to see you succeed.  There is no hidden agenda, just sharing common issues and giving and receiving new insights.

The ella Trustees Forum is based on our tried and tested leadership development offer combining learning and support from both experts and peers.  Trustees are brought together to exchange ideas and resolve issues and challenges in a confidential and mutually supportive environment

The Core Elements of the Trustees Forum:

  1. Monthly meetings where the focus is on issue management using a proven, facilitated process, that is action and results oriented.  Members have the opportunity to raise issues and leverage the group’s experience and perspectives to identify potential solutions.
  2. Expert speaker sessions – access to all ella Forums speaker sessions.
  3. Workshops focusing on specific issues that matter to Trustees.  Expert input and facilitation with the emphasis on generating practical outputs that can be used to drive and inform actions.
  4. Individual Mentoring.
  5. An opportunity to attend the ella National Conference – meet other leaders and hear from world class speakers.

what are the benefits?

Membership offers the opportunity and space for Trustees to gain confidence and engagement through a network of peers.  Through the forum they will:
