Trustees aim to add value to their organisation and have a positive impact on society, whilst at the same time getting personal and professional growth and challenge.  The role can be rewarding as well as challenging, as Trustees get to grips with the complexities of the charity sector and learn to manage the boundaries between the Trustee boards and the senior management team.

There is a lot of guidance for Trustees on their general legal and financial responsibilities (The Charity Commission and NCVO are good places to start).  But the role is much more than this and can feel lonely without peer support.

By joining the Trustees Forum you will have the benefit of the wisdom of up to twelve charity Trustees who wish to see you succeed.  There is no hidden agenda, just sharing common issues and giving and receiving new insights.

I have found the ella Trustees Forum meetings very helpful. The meetings are a very safe space to explore the role of trustees and discuss issues. The relaxed atmosphere gives the confidence to share ideas, offer support and learn from others. A very friendly and supportive group.‘ Noran, NechellsPOD

the benefits

Membership offers the opportunity and space for Trustees to gain confidence and engagement through a network of peers.  Through the forum they will:

  • Discuss any issues they may be facing in a confidential and non-judgemental environment, facilitated by the Chair.  This could be personal or it could be an organisational challenge or opportunity
  • Gain insight on key topics relevant to leadership in the charity sector from expert speakers
  • Be part of a group of likeminded peers where they can both learn to coach their peers and benefit from their support
  • Take a deeper dive into issues of relevance to the group.

I’ve found the Trustees Forum a very helpful way of airing challenges for my boards and frequently colleagues have suggested practical solutions.  The atmosphere is open and friendly, but we focus on important issues.’ Felicity, The Mighty Creatives and Upstart Projects.
